NEW DELHI: Putting an end to the uncertainty over class 12 examination, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 1, announced that the government has decided to cancel the CBSE 12th examination due to the prevailing Covid-19 situation.
Issuing a notice, the Prime Minister said that the health and safety of students are of utmost importance and there would be no compromise on this aspect.
He also added that it was necessary to end anxiety among students, parents, and teachers.

Andhra Pradesh
The Andhra Pradesh government has cancelled the Class 12th state board examinations following the Supreme Court's tough questions over holding them during the Covid pandemic. State education minister Adimulapu Suresh said the decision to cancel the SSC and intermediate examinations was taken after the orders given by the Supreme court.
Assam
Assam education minister Ranoj Pegu said on Friday that the government has decided to cancel High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary (HS) examinations. Earlier, the class X and XII board exams were scheduled to be held between August 1-15, which have now been called off.

Bihar
Bihar conducted class 10 and 12 examinations in February 2021. The results of both exams have also been published.
Chhattisgarh
The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) has commenced the Class 12 exams from June 1 wherein students have been allowed to collect question papers from specified centres, take them home and submit the answer copies within five days, officials said.
Goa
Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education on Thursday officially called off the Class 12 public examinations by issuing a circular declaring the cancellation. Those who are not satisfied with their results, declared through a scheme to be announced by the board, will be later provided an opportunity to appear for an exam when conditions are conducive, Goa Board said in its circular.
Gujarat
The Gujarat government on Wednesday said it has decided to cancel board exams for Class 12 students of Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB).
Haryana
The Haryana government on Tuesday decided to cancel the Class 12 exams conducted by the state board, said Education Minister Kanwar Pal.
Jharkhand
The Jharkhand government on Thursday announced the cancellation of Class 10 and 12 board exams, conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), in the wake of the COVID-19 situation. "Today, in view of the circumstances arising out of Covid-19 and the demand of students and parents, I have decided to cancel the Class 10th and 12 board examination to be conducted by Jharkhand Examination Council for this session," Chief Minister Hemant Soren said.
Karnataka
Karnataka primary and secondary education minister S. Sureshkumar on Friday said that the government has decided to cancel II PU Examinations for the current year.
Kerala
Kerala class 10 and 12 examinations were held in May. The department concluded plus two examinations on April 26, 2021.
Madhya Pradesh
The Madhya Pradesh government announced on Wednesday that it decided to scrap class 12 exams. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said exams have been cancelled as students' safety is his priority.
Maharashtra
The Maharashtra state board has cancelled examinations for Classes 10 and 12 in Maharashtra this year in view of the prevailing coronavirus pandemic, minister Vijay Wadettiwar announced on Thursday.
Odisha
The Odisha government on Friday announced that it has decided to cancel Class XII board examination conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) for this year. The government said students will be evaluated using well defined objective criteria. The move has evoked mixed reactions among students and educationists.
Punjab
The Punjab government on Saturday cancelled Class 12 exams because of the COVID-19 pandemic. State Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla said the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) will declare the results as per the pattern of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It was the need of hour to take a decision on examinations as students and parents were worried about admissions to the higher classes, said Singla in a statement.
Rajasthan
The Rajasthan government on Wednesday decided to cancel Class X and XII board exams conducted by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) this year in the backdrop of a looming third wave of Covid-19 pandemic. The decision was taken at a virtual meeting of the council of ministers, chaired by chief minister Ashok Gehlot.
Telangana
The Telangana state government on Wednesday announced the cancellation of intermediate second-year examinations. The education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, who officially announced the cancellation of exams, said that this decision was made keeping the health of students in mind. She said that results will be announced based on first-year intermediate marks. “A committee is being constituted to finalise the modalities for results, “she added.
Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin on Saturday night announced cancellation of Class XII state board exams in view of the Covid-19 second wave in the state. The state government held discussions with parents, teachers, educationists, health experts and political parties in the past three days on conducting the exams.
Uttarakhand
With the spike in Covid-19 cases in the state, the Uttarakhand board has decided to cancel the class 12 examination. The government has cancelled the examination for the safety and security of the examinees and teachers in view of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.
Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh on Thursday cancelled the class 12 state board examinations to ward off coronavirus infections. The decision was taken by the chief minister Yogi Adityanath after discussions with deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma, who also heads the secondary education department.
West Bengal
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced the cancellation of Class 10 and Class 12 state Board examinations for session 2020-2021. On Sunday, the Chief Minister had said that the state government would form an expert committee to recommend whether the state board exams for secondary and higher secondary classes should be held.
