At 32.06%, Bhadrak has highest testing positivity rate in Odisha, followed by Jajpur

Bhadrak as emerged to take the top spot in the state as far as the worst weekly test positivity rate (TPR) is concerned. It registered a TPR of 32.06% between June 2 and 8. Jajpur has taken the second spot with 22.65% positivity.

BHUBANESWAR: Bhadrak as emerged to take the top spot in the state as far as the worst weekly test positivity rate (TPR) is concerned. It registered a TPR of 32.06% between June 2 and 8. Jajpur has taken the second spot with 22.65% positivity.
Another district with more than 20% TPR is Khurda, which continues to report high number of infections daily. However, the state’s TPR remained below nine per cent for the second consecutive day on Wednesday with 6,019 new infections from among the 68,778 samples being tested.
The state reported 43 more Covid fatalities on Wednesday taking the death toll to 3,123.
The western district of Balangir has recorded the lowest weekly TPR of 4.06%. The coastal districts, which had seen a spurt in cases recently, have by and large seen a high TPR . Kendrapada (11.85%), Jagatsinghpur (11.70%) and Cuttack (15.82%) have a positivity rate above 10% compared to the western districts such as Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi and Sambalpur and Bargarh, whose weekly TPR is below 10%. The western districts were the first in the state to witness a surge in cases when the second wave of Covid hit home. The 10 districts in western Odisha, where the cases took an early vertical ride together, are now left with 11,000 active cases. Nuapada has just 271 active Covid patients.
