BHOPAL: BJP Rajya Sabha member Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Thursday that his fight against illegal mining in the Gwalior-Chambal region would continue. He said the attack on a women SDO of forest department in Morena will be probed and he would talk to the chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan if necessary.
Scindia also raised doubts over speculations about change in leadership in the state and said that the BJP government has given excellent performance under the leadership of Chouhan by successfully controlling Covid-19 in the state.

"The matter (attack on woman SDO) will be investigated immediately. I will also talk to the chief minister if necessary. Investigations will be carried out as soon as possible because I always keep the flag flying against illegal mining and to stop ii." Scindia told reporters in Bhind on Thursday after reports of repeated attacks by illegal mining mafia on Shraddha Pandhare, a SDO of forest department in Morena.
He further said, "People who have signed the draft with the government and are paying royalty (for legal mining), they should be protected as the government is getting money (revenue). But strict action should be taken against those who are involved in illegal mining. There are some who have signed an agreement but sometimes take the illegal route. They should also be closely monitored."
The BJP leader who hit headlines on Wednesday through his lunch and dinner politics in the state capital and day long meetings with senior BJP leaders including chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, reached Gwalior in the morning and left immediately for Mehgaon and Bhind district to console the family members of those who passed away during the pandemic. On speculation about leadership in the state, Scindia said he was not aware where from the talks of leadership change appeared.

"Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the head of the government. The manner in which the BJP government has given such an excellent performance in these difficult circumstances during the last 16 months under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, I want to thank him. Not only to congratulate but to thank him that all this has been possible under his leadership. I don't know where from the talks of leadership change appeared. But I went to Bhopal for a courtesy call and to discuss about Covid-19, party organisation (issues) and had very long and effective discussions with the state president, organizational leaders, the chief minister and many ministers," he said.
Earlier, before leaving for Gwalior the BJP leader reacted sharply to Congress remarks that he had arrived to get plum posts. Scindia said Congress should mend its own ways. Scindia is likely to tour Morena and Gwalior during his next two days. He will also dedicate ambulances and attend a virtual conference of Indore Cancer Foundation on Friday.
