Tallahassee Musician, Dakoda Rollins, Joined The Mix to Talk About Life as an Music Artist

The Mix

On The Mix this week, Caleb Jordan and Dana Erskine had Tallahassee musician, Dakoda Rollins in the studio to talk about life as a musician, what got him into the music, and life as a dad. Dakoda Rollins is a musician from Tallahassee and was a transplant to the city a few years prior. Dakoda talked about the different music scenes in Tallahassee but that there is an appreciation for creators respecting other creators, despite the different styles of music.

Dakoda Rollins came in as a hip-hop artist originally but has now turned his style into modern pop. He produces his music but also works with Connor Holcombe, from 7th City Recording and lead vocals to the band Brightside, to help produce the melodies and give input in the sound Dakoda is looking for.

The song “Burden” was Dakoda’s first duet and was inspired by the song “Almost Paradise” from the Footloose soundtrack. He worked with Lauren Light on the song.

Segment 2: Dakoda Rollins and life as a Dad

The Mix

Dakoda talked about life as a dad and how that has impacted his music. He said it made him think about the type of music he was producing and what he would listen to during rehearsals and in the house. Another big impact would be the work ethic that it has created and how he worked a 24 hr day because that’s what he does now as a dad and an artist.
