Update: One dead, three people shot including teenager in Winston-Salem
Winston-Salem police are investigating a shooting that killed one person and left three other people hurt Friday night.Police said the shooting happened at 9:55 p.m. on Devonshire and Burgandy streets. Officers found four people shot. Three of the gunshot victims were transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where their injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening. The fourth gunshot victim was pronounced dead at the scene.Officers said two of the gunshot victims were adult males, one victim was a 17-year-old, and the fourth victim has yet to be positively identified.For investigative reasons, the names of the gunshot victims are temporarily being withheld by investigators. As part of the investigation, detectives are working to determine if this crime is connected to an earlier homicide that occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. in the 1500 block of Bruce Street.This marks the 17th homicide to occur in Winston-Salem in 2021, as compared to 13 homicides for the same period of time in 2020.This is a developing story that will be updated as we get more information.
