Spain 0-0 Sweden LIVE! Euros result, highlights, latest news and reaction from Luis Enrique

Spain vs Sweden - LIVE!

After a Covid-disrupted build-up, Spain began their Euro 2020 campaign with a goalless draw against Sweden in Group E in Seville this evening.

Spain were much the better side but failed to find a way past Robin Olsen, with Gerard Moreno and Alvaro Morata particularly guilty of wasting excellent chances.

Sweden had opportunities of their own, with Alexander Isak’s effort cleared onto the post from the goalline, while Marcus Berg somehow failed to convert from close range.

Positive coronavirus tests for midfielder Sergio Busquets and defender Diego Llorente have seen Spain’s squad forced to isolate and train separately from one another up until a couple of days ago.

Spain boss Luis Enrique had already made headlines by opting to leave out talismanic captain Sergio Ramos after his injury-plagued season, neglecting to select a single Real Madrid player in his 24-man squad.

FT: Spain 0-0 Sweden

Not sure how, but it finishes goalless in Seville.

90+4 mins: Another golden chance. Alba clips across goal to Sarabia but he’s not expecting it and the ball just hits him on the thigh and dribbles into the ‘keeper’s arms.

90+1 mins: I’ll pipe down on the Moreno front now because he’s just missed a glorious chance, too. Superb delivery again from Sarabia but Moreno heads straight at Olsen.

90 mins: That won’t improve Luis Enrique’s mood. Spain think they’ve got a corner but the flag is raised against Jordi Alba, who was miles onside.

14 June 2021

87 mins: Fabian Ruiz is on for Koke for the final few minutes. To be fair, Spain haven’t made anything like the chances of the first half since the break.

14 June 2021

83 mins: I suspect you’d have got a fair price on Slovakia being top of the group tonight, let alone two points clear, but that is looking like it’ll be the case.

14 June 2021

78 mins: Sarabia’s looked a real livewire since he’s come on and he whips a couple of inviting balls in in quick succession. Danielsson heads one clear, Olsen gets rid of the other.

Spain running out of time...

74 mins: Finally, Moreno is on, as is Mikel Oyarzabal. Torres and Olmo are the pair to make way.
