ISLAMABAD: Rain along with thundershowers is expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.

The Met Office has issued a warning stating that rain coupled with strong winds could generate urban flooding in low-lying areas of Rawalpindi over the weekend besides Azad Kashmir, Jhelum, Lahore, Gujranwala and Sialkot. People who have plans to travel to any of these areas have been advised to check weather conditions before setting out on the journey to avoid an emergency.

Hot and dry weather is expected in other parts of the country during this time span. A seasonal low lies on the northwest side of Balochistan and its adjoining areas. Moist currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are penetrating upper and central parts of the country.

Rain and thunderstorms were reported in Kashmir, upper KP, and upper and central Punjab during the last 24 hours.

The weather remained extremely hot in Sindh and south-central Balochistan.

Rainfall recorded during this time period in KP is as follows: Kakul 58mm, Balakot 11mm, Malam Jabba 8mm, Lower Dir 4mm.

In Kashmir, Muzaffarabad city received 28mm of rain, Garhidupatta 5mm, whereas in Punjab, Narowal received 18mm of rain, Murree 7mm, Sialkot city 12mm, Gujrat and Gujranwala 6mm, Mangla 3mm, Sargodha and Jhelum 2mm and Joharabad 1mm of rain.

Maximum temperature recorded on Saturday were in Nokkundi, Dalbandin and Sibbi 48°C, Dadu 47°C, Jacobabad and Larkana 46°C and Shaheed Benazirabad 45°C.
