LUCKNOW: History-sheeter and former MLC Sanjeev Dwivedi aka Ramu was arrested by Deoria police in a late night swoop from Dhemumati Apartments in the posh Butler Road locality.
He was wanted by Deoria police for an extortion case registered in 2012 and an attempt to murder case in 2016.
In Lucknow, Ramu has three murder cases against him along with six other cases since 1997.

Hailing from Banshiya village under Chauri Chaura police station of Gorakhpur, Ramu has also lived in Lucknow.
ADG Gorakhpur zone Akhil Kumar told TOI that on the directions of the DGP, Ramu was traced as one of the 33 active criminals in the state against whom action was to be initiated.
SP Deoria Shripati Mishra told TOI that reinvestigation in two cases had been done. The first was an extortion case against businessman Sanjay Kodia and the second was an attempt to murder case against Nikunj Agarwal. It surfaced that Ramu had influenced the investigation.
“Reinvestigation was done after court’s approval while the victims submitted evidence to police,” said the SP. The officer also said that other aides of the former MLC were also arrested.
Meanwhile, Lucknow police has made DCP crime the nodal head to expedite pending cases against Ramu.
