Dimapur, June 13 (EMN): Yali village, a Chang village in Tuensang district, has achieved the distinction as the first village in Nagaland to vaccinate all eligible citizens with the Covid-19 vaccine.

The village achieved this feat during a special vaccination drive on Sunday, which was launched by the ADC of Tuensang, Ajit Kumar Verma, along with SDO (C), Rohit Singh, and SDPO of Tuensang, Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, at the church premises in Yali village, a DIPR report stated on Sunday.

Speaking at the programme, the ADC appreciated the wisdom of the village elders and leaders for coming forward and deciding to vaccinate all the eligible beneficiaries of the village. Stating that it is the first and crucial step towards full coverage of vaccination drives in rural areas, he requested other villages of the district to come forward with the same co-operation in the fight against Covid-19.

Report stated that the vaccination drive was part of the new strategy to vaccinate all the villages of the district with the joint initiative of the district task force on Covid-19, Medical department, CBLT office and ECS.

While few of the beneficiaries were vaccinated in the first vaccination drive, it was decided to vaccinate the whole village after CBLT, in consultation with the district task force, sensitised the village on the importance of vaccination, the report added.
