NEW DELHI, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated his new Israeli counterpart Naftali Bennett.

Modi also expressed his eagerness to meet Bennett for further deepening the bilateral relationship.

"Congratulations on accepting your new position as Prime Minister of Israel. In anticipation of the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations upgrade next year, I look forward to meeting with you and deepening the strategic relations," tweeted Modi.

The Israeli parliament on Sunday approved a new coalition government, sending Benjamin Netanyahu to the opposition after a record 12-year rule.

Bennett was sworn in as the new prime minister on Sunday night.
