PALANPUR: ‘Love guru’ of Raiwada village temple of Meghraj taluka in Aravalli district gave the temple a dubious distinction after the priest kidnapped a college girl with help of two of his friends.
A divorcee, 35-year-old Kashin Purohit, was entrusted with the maintenance as well puja activities at the temple. But, he soon became infatuated with a girl from the village and paved his way stealthily into her household by befriending her brother.
Purohit then started visiting the family regularly, often staying back for meals and performing “satsang” at their residence, impressing the family highly.
The girl’s parents too developed deep respect for the priest. Meanwhile, the smitten priest had also gifted the girl a smartphone two months ago without her family’s knowledge and the duo would talk over the phone daily.
Purohit then hatched a plan to kidnap the girl along with his friends Sadhidharaj Patel of Sisodara village and Ravi Bharvad of Sakariya village. The trio went in an Innova car on June 14 and kidnapped the girl during the wee hours, said cops. The family was devastated by the news but finally approached the Meghraj police to register a complaint of kidnapping against the temple priest and his aides.
Police have registered case of kidnapping and are on the lookout to nab the three culprits who are absconding along with the girl, a BA second year student, said MD Panchal, sub-inspector at Meghraj police station.
