The Cedar Beach Basketball Showcase, the first major high school basketball tournament of the summer, begins Thursday night and continues through Sunday.

But on the final night before the tournament, the Allentown Cedar Beach Summer Basketball League put on a good show in west Allentown on Tuesday night with some big matchups and top performances.

Among the top performers were Notre Dame-Green Pond’s Brendan Boyle and Bethlehem Catholic’s Edixon Gomez, who helped their teams post big wins.

And in a battle of teams that won state championships less than three months ago, Allentown Central Catholic edged Reading with emerging star Nico Pulieri leading the way.
