Newcastle United's opening fixture of the 2021/22 campaign has been moved for TV coverage.

The Magpies were scheduled to host West Ham United at St James' Park on Saturday, August 14.

However, the match will now be broadcast a day later with the slightly earlier kick-off time of 2pm after being selected for coverage by Sky Sports.

Steve Bruce's side recorded a double over the Hammers last season, including a 2-0 victory in the capital on the opening day of last season. Summer signings Callum Wilson and Jeff Hendrick both opened their accounts in black-and-white.

The Magpies had another signing to thank in the reverse fixture, with a late header from loanee Joe Willock sealing a 3-2 win on Tyneside in April.

The expected return of supporters to stadiums next season means not all Premier League fixtures are due to be broadcast on TV.

As it stands, all restrictions on social contact are due to be lifted on July 19 following the Government's decision to delay the final stage of easing lockdown by four weeks.

The Premier League have also confirmed United's away trip to Leicester City on Saturday, December 11, is also likely to be rearranged as a result of the Foxes involvement in the Europa League.

Confirmation of a new date and kick-off time will be announced with the release of the broadcast selections for December.
