KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor on Friday met the 241 Sabah students who excelled in last year’s Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

Hajiji congratulated and chatted with the top achievers during the meeting which was held virtually.

He expressed his hope that the students will continue to reach for greater heights and they will one day contribute to their country.

The students also took the opportunity to ask Hajiji various questions, including his role as the Chief Minister, his leadership and his plans for the students in Sabah.

Hajiji explained to the students that the state government had intensified its efforts on developing Sabah’s human capital and welfare.

The state government has put in place various assistance packages for the students in Sabah, which includes the RM2,000 IPT Cash Registration Assistance (BUDI) for eligible students; the RM200 Special Examination Cash Assistance (BAKTI) for SPM, STPM and STAM students; and the 10,000 laptops which will be distributed to eligible students in July.

Hajiji added that the state government would also be announcing the Sabah State Education Fund very soon.

The meeting was organised by the State Education Department.

During the meeting, the students were also briefed by Petronas on the various scholarship programmes.
