ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – As most of us know, those 21 and older will be allowed to possess up to an ounce of marijuana beginning on July 1.

On that date, Virginia adults can also grow up to four plants in their homes.

In response one local retailer has been seeing a drastic increase in business.

Blue Ridge Hydroponics, located at 501 Marshall Avenue SW in Roanoke has been serving the valley since 2004 by offering numerous hydroponic supply items, fertilizer, soil, plant nutrients, sun systems and stellar service to assist in the health and independence that comes from growing personal fruits, vegetables and gardens.

With the legalization of Cannabis coming, they have seen an increase in business and interest that they have expanded their full-time team, product lines and advertising.

“We’re seeing not only an interest in growing cannabis at home whether for health or recreation use, but also we think out of the uncertainty created by COVID-19, more and more individuals are seeing the benefits of creating their own supply at home. The fulfillment of eating what you grow and providing for your family or yourself is endlessly rewarding.”

Jeremy Poe, General Manager of Blue Ridge Hydroponics

Blue Ridge Hydroponics has also teamed with another local business, Kief Cultivation Services to offer Cannabis, and CBD growing classes this July.

Customers who want to participate can sign up in store during their regular business hours.
