Brighton & Hove join West Ham in race to sign Super Eagles attacker
Published: June 19, 2021Brighton & Hove are the latest club in the English Premier League exploring ways to sign Nigeria international Paul Onuachu this summer, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.
The Seagulls have contacted Onuachu's agent through an intermediary and talks have started over a deal.
The Super Eagles star is likely to leave Racing Genk this summer after putting himself in the shop window over the course of the 2020-2021 campaign, with 37 goals combined for club and country.
Though Brighton managed to beat the drop last season, they struggled in attack, netting 40 goals, and only the teams that finished below them and Wolverhampton Wanderers scored fewer goals.
In terms of Premier League clubs, Brighton's pursuit of Onuachu is under threat from West Ham, who are also tracking the prolific striker.
It is thought that Brighton would be in an advantageous position to sign the former FC Midtjylland man as they have a good relationship with Racing Genk.
Racing Genk, who sold Leandro Trossard to the Seagulls in the summer of 2019, are demanding a fee in the region of 30 million euros for Onuachu.
