What’s left of Claudette continues to impact parts of the Southeast with heavy rain and the threat for flash flooding. Locally, only a few showers or storms may make as far north as just past the NC/VA state line into Southside later today into this evening. Most can expect to stay dry.

Today is the first day of summer and it certainly feels like it! It will continue to be hot and humid with mostly cloudy skies. Look for highs in the 80s west of the Parkway to around 90 degrees across the Piedmont.

Monday kicks off the work week with more heat and humidity. Temperatures will climb even higher. Some locales may get as hot as the low to mid 90s.

A cold front approaches from the northwest late Monday. This will trigger scattered showers and storms ahead of it late in the day. Rain chances will increase Monday night and into much of Tuesday as the front slowly works through the region. You’ll want the rain gear Tuesday! It will also be cooler with highs in the 70s due to clouds and rainy conditions.

Cooler air moves in behind the front, making for a pleasant Wednesday with mostly sunny skies, lower humidity and highs in the 70s to near 80.
