Third Delta variant case in Jamnagar

A 60-year-old woman from Jamnagar was confirmed infected with the new Delta Plus variant of Covid-19 on Tuesday.

RAJKOT: A 60-year-old woman from Jamnagar was confirmed infected with the new Delta Plus variant of Covid-19 on Tuesday.
She has fully recovered but after her report came positive the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation (JMC) has started surveillance and contact tracing.
Official sources said that the woman who lives in the Gandhinagar area of the city tested positive on May 28.
She was admitted to the state-run GG Hospital and discharged after a few days.
The hospital sent samples of a few suspected patients to National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune and the report on Tuesday confirmed the presence of the new variant.
The woman had traveled to Savli in Vadodara between May 20 and May 25, and after returning to Jamnagar she tested positive. She had a cough and fever.
Jamnagar municipal commissioner Vijay Kharadi told TOI: “We have started surveillance and contact tracing of this woman and keeping a very close watch.”
