Admn launches 2-day vaccination drive in Banka
BHAGALPUR: With a view to inoculating all the residents of Banka, the district administration and the health department launched a two-day Covid immunization drive at 14 centres in different wards under the Nagar Parishad on Tuesday.
As part of the drive, senior officials, healthcare workers, educationists, accredited social health activists, anganwadi sevikas, and booth level officers (BLOs) are motivating the people in their respective areas to receive vaccine shots as soon as possible.
Religious leaders have also been roped in to encourage the locals to get themselves vaccinated and undergo RT-PCR test if they develop Covid-like symptoms.
According to sources, the total population of Banka district is 22,96,414. Of these, 3,40,676 have been inoculated so far. While 2,95,402 beneficiaries have received their first dose, 45,274 are fully vaccinated.
The SDM of Banka, Manoj Kumar Chowdhary, told this reporter that the two-day vaccination drive would end on Wednesday. “We have sought help from BLOs, health workers, social activists, academics as well as religious leaders for making the drive successful. Our target is to vaccinate a large number of people in order to contain the spread of Covid-19,” he added.
