VARANASI: Few hours after looting cash Rs 50,000 from a man, two looters were arrested after suffering bullet injuries in exchange of fire with cops of Chandawak and Jalalpur police stations near a culvert on Murkha canal in Jaunpur district on Wednesday.
SP Jaunpur Ajay Sahani said that two looters- Pradeep and Vimlesh of Kerakat area were arrested after suffering bullet injuries while their accomplice, who has been identified as Kuldeep, managed to escape.
One police constable Jaiprakash Yadav also suffered minor injuries. They all had been rushed to district hospital.
Police recovered one pistol, one country made revolver, live cartridges, a motorcycle and a mobile phone from them, he said adding, the arrested looters had robbed cash Rs 50,000 from Rajkumar Ram of Ghazipur in morning. Sahani said that several police teams had been engaged to nab the looters at earliest.
The cops succeeded in tracing the looters when they had gathered near a culvert on Murkha canal to divide their share in looted money. However, on seeing them surrounded by cops the miscreants opened fire on police team in the bid to escape, said Sahani adding, police foiled their bid by retaliating in similar style, although third looter managed to escape by jumping into canal.
