Will make Bhagalpur state’s industrial hub: Shahnawaz
BHAGALPUR: State industries minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Saturday discussed modalities to establish various industrial units, including agro-based industries, in the district. The minister said the state government would look into the demands for opening a Khadi Mall at Bhagalpur for the promotion of handloom, khadi and tussar silk products manufactured in Champanagar region of the district.

Shahnawaz met the industries and district officials besides local industrialists and businessmen as well as BJP and JD(U) leaders and workers. He also visited the handloom clusters in Nathnagar localities and Barari industrial areas to get first-hand information about problems faced by local industrialists and the modalities for making Bhagalpur region a hub of industries.
Shahnawaz told reporters that the government is committed to ushering in industrial growth in Bihar. “We are trying to identify the problem areas in industrial growth in the state and remove the obstacles. Our larger objective is to establish industries across the state and focus on industries based on regional products,” he said.
The minister added, “There is immense potential for establishing ethanol plants, textile industries and food and agro-based industries in the state. CM Nitish Kumar and PM Narendra Modi are committed for the welfare of people and socio-economic changes in the lives of common people.”
Earlier, Alim Ansari, secretary of Resham Bunkar Khadi Evam Gramodyog Sangh, submitted a memorandum to the minister, demanding a soft loan of Rs 10 lakh to handloom workers and their families who are faced with penury due to lockdowns and business losses following Covid-19 pandemic.
