Akhilesh: BJP has no faith in poll process
Lucknow: Targeting chief minister Yogi Adityanath for the ‘lawlessness’ in the state, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said ‘goonda raj’ reigned supreme in the block pramukh polls and the democratic process has been held hostage.
The former UP CM said blatant misuse of government machinery to “forcibly grab” seats remained the hallmark of the polls.

“The state government has no faith in a democratic set-up and the Constitution,” he said. He tweeted a poster with an image of Yogi stating that his government machinery had collapsed completely and hooligans were having a field day.
“A police officer was slapped by BJP workers in Etawah, in Unnao the CDO chased and thrashed a journalist, a panchayat member taking his father’s body for cremation was kidnapped in Sant Kabir Nagar. This is how BJP has forcibly occupied block pramukh seats,” Akhilesh said.
“SP delegations submitted a memorandum with authorities and even with the state election commission with instances of attempts to influence the elections, but no action was initiated,” Akhilesh said.
