Mahoba & Hathras also Covid-free; 90 test positive in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW: Two more districts in Uttar Pradesh became Covid-19 free on Thursday, taking the total number of such districts to five.
According to the official bulletin on coronavirus status in the state, Mahoba and Hathras joined Aligarh, Lalitpur and Sravasti with zero active cases.
Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in state plunged to 1,428 which means that cases went below the 1,500-mark after a gap of over 14 weeks.

As many as 34 districts are left with 10 or fewer cases while only Lucknow
(127) and Kushinagar (108) have more than 100 active cases. The official bulletin also showed that only 90 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 17,07,585. Of the total cases reported, 16,83,453 have recovered which speaks for a recovery rate of about 98.6%. Of the total districts, 27 recorded zero cases while others recorded nine or fewer cases. Lucknow was the only exception with 10 cases.

Experts, however, warned against any complacency towards the Covid-19 prevention protocol. Though cases have declined, the pandemic virus is still active and chances of transmission are very high.
They also said that new strains of the virus are active in different parts of the country, which adds to the risk. Officials also reminded people that prevention protocol for all the viruses was the same.
