JACKSON TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Two people taken to the hospital after an Akron Children’s Hospital Ambulance crashes on I-80 West in Jackson Township.
It happened around 3:30 this morning near the Meander Reservoir.
Troopers on scene say no patients were on board at the time of the crash.
One lane of I-80 West was closed between the Meander Reservoir and the Turnpike Entrance, but all lanes have since reopened.
Two people were taken to St. Elizabeth’s in Youngstown with non-life threatening injuries.
The accident was cleared by 6 a.m.
Officials at Akron Children’s Hospital issued a statement on the crash, saying they are gathering details on the incident.
“ We are aware of the accident on I-80 early this morning involving a Mahoning Valley-based Akron Children’s Hospital ambulance team, and we’re in the process of gathering all the details. No patients were on board. Two hospital employees were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries and have been discharged. We do not anticipate any disruption of our transport services.“
