Undertrial dies in Jhansi district jail
Jhansi: A 46-year-old under trial, who had been languishing in the Jhansi district jail since the last one year died on early Tuesday morning while on way to Jhansi medical college after he complained of uneasiness.
The deceased Rahees Yadav alias Krishna Gopal, a former village head of Burawli, falling under Moth police station, had been in Jhansi jail along with his two brothers since July 22, 2020 and was facing trial in a case under sections 147, 148, 336, 325, 504, 506 of IPC and section 3/2/5 of the SC/ST Act.

According to senior jail superintendent Rang Bahadur Patel, Rahees complained of uneasiness on Tuesday early morning at around 4.30 am after which he was taken to the jail hospital from where he was referred to the Jhansi medical college where he was declared brought dead.
“He had some persisting gastric problem because of which he used to take medicines regularly. The exact reason of his death can only be ascertained after his post-mortem examination report is received”, Patel said.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased have demanded a proper probe into his death, suspecting it as unnatural.
