David Moyes says he wants to add more competition to his group of "great lads" at West Ham this summer.

The Hammers ran out 6-2 winners over Celtic in Glasgow on Saturday, with Michail Antonio scoring twice.

West Ham are unbeaten in pre-season as they gear up for a season which will see them in the group stage of the Europa League for the first time after finishing sixth last term.

Moyes is desperate to add more quality to his squad this summer. Jesse Lingard remains a target but the midfielder - who himself scored in a friendly against Queens Park Rangers this weekend - wants to fight for his place at Manchester United.

A striker, midfielder, central defender and goalkeeper are all wanted while the Hammers continue to track Hibernian full-back Josh Doig.

“We need to get more competition, that’s the important thing if we want to keep the standards up," Moyes said.

"But I’ll tell you what we’ve got and that’s a great group of lads.

“I’m really lucky because we’ve got a group of lads who are right on it, foot to the metal all of the time so hopefully we keep that going.

“We’ll find out what we can do in the future but we’ve got no great update at all.”

West Ham have only added at academy level so far but are in talks over a deal to bring former Fulham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola to east London. The Hammers are keen to bring the Paris Saint-Germain in on a season-long loan with an option to buy in order to give first choice Lukasz Fabianski some competition over the coming season.

The summer market has proved a slow one for many clubs so far though there is plenty of time remaining with the window open until August 31.
