  • Olsen, 31, played 11 times on loan at Everton last season under Carlo Ancelotti
  • New Roma manager Jose Mourinho is understood to be willing to sell the Swede
  • After a transfer to French side Lille reportedly fell through, West Ham may swoop

Robin Olsen's move to West Ham is reportedly back on after a transfer to Lille is understood to have fallen through.

New Roma manager Jose Mourinho is thought to consider Olsen surplus to requirements after signing Rui Patricio from Wolves to be his No 1.

And according to Il Romanista, French side and Ligue 1 champions Lille - keen to replace Mike Maignan, who moved to AC Milan - were not able to get a deal off the ground, meaning the door could be open for West Ham to swoop for the Swede.

Olsen played 11 times in all competitions on loan at Carlo Ancelotti's Everton last seasons, including seven games in the Premier League.

Those appearances coincided with Jordan Pickford's shaky spells of club form, but after the England star's excellent performances at Euro 2020, the prospect of more first-team football at Goodison Park was low.

New Toffees boss Rafael Benitez has since signed former Bournemouth and Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic on a free transfer to provide cover for Pickford.

Olsen would also be unlikely to fully displace West Ham's current first-choice Lukasz Fabianski straight away, but there is an understanding at the London Stadium that the current crop of first-team goalkeepers could do with some younger blood.

Pole Fabianski is 36, and backup 'keepers Darren Randolph and David Martin are 35 and 34 respectively, while Olsen is 31 and has several years of top-flight football left in him.

Although the imposing 6'5" 48-cap international has two years left on his contract, he would be unlikely to cost a fortune, seemingly with no future for him at Roma.
