Most of us knew that he was an assistant to director Ram Gopal Varma before he made his directorial debut in the Telugu cinema and many thought his films would be on the lines of RGV which is dark, crime oriented, blood-shed and Gangster genres at that time, as he is from RGV school of film-making. Gulabi (1995):
This film gave life to many young people in those days in the Telugu industry mainly J.D.Chakravarthy, Brahmaji, and Maheshwari, the film was jointly produced by RGV along with Amitabh Bachchan Corporation. The film was inspired by a real incident that came in news dailies when police arrested Dubai-based businessmen trying to smuggle girls from Hyderabad.

Ninne Pelladata (1996):
This romantic film of Nagarjuna along with Tabu was a super-duper hit at the box office. The music of Sandeep Chowta of the film is even popular today. The film also received a National film award for best film in Telugu besides winning 3 more Filmfare awards in Telugu for that year. It was also dubbed in Tamil & Remade in Kannada for its success.

Anthahpuram (1998):
This action drama written & directed by Krishna Vamsi starring ‘Jagapati Babu, Prakash Raj, Sai Kumar & Soudarya’ was inspired by the 1991 American film ‘Not Without My Daughter’ which was a super-hit at the box office again. It also gave big break to Telugu actor Jagapati Babu as an actor, who tells about it even today in his interviews. The success of this film made it to remake in Hindi as ‘Shakti: The Power (2003)’ with Bollywood Super-stars ‘Shah Rukh Khan & Karishma Kapoor’ and in Tamil with ‘Parthiban’ replacing Jagapathi Babu. The film also won multiple Filmfare awards such as ‘Best Telugu Film, Best Actress, and the Best Director. Besides bringing National Film award (Special Mention) to actor ‘Prakash Raj’.It has also brought more than 8 AP
state Nandi Awards for its film craft.

Khadgam (2002):
This is a very special film for the director as it has not just brought him the Filmfare Best director award for the third time but also lots of name and fame along with very good box-office collections. The film has also won several State awards, including the Nandi award for his direction. This successful action drama was also later remade in Hindi as Insan (2007). The success of this film made it dub in several Indian languages.

Chandamama (2007):
This 2007 film starring Navdeep and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles that is produced by C.Kalyan and S. Vijayanand with the music by K.M.Radha Krishnan was a super hit at the box office. The film gave life to today’s lady superstar ‘Kajal Aggarwal’ in Telugu cinema, who went to sign several super-hit films from then on. This film was also remade in Tamil & Kannada for its entertaining content.
