Bear Drive-In Theater is preparing for its opening. The theater earlier held a friends and family test run.

The drive-in was slated to offer on separate screens  Walt Disney’s Jungle Cruise and Fast and Furious 9, its website noted. Coming next are The Suicide Squad and No Time to Die.

Reservations for the movies are not yet available on the theater’s website.

TownSquare Delaware reported the portable drive-in will open Friday night. However, a Facebook post stated that no date has been officially announced. Due to a barrage of questions on the opening the post asked fans to not send any more messages.

The theater will charge by the person, with adults paying $15; seniors, children, and emergency/military personnel charged  $11, and children four and under getting in free.

Customers will each get a soft drink and popcorn with the price of admission.

Theater owner  Bob Weir  brought in white  shipping containers for  the twin-screen theater, behind the Lowe’s store off Route 7 in Bear. The shipping containers come from Schneider Trailer and Container Rental, Newark.

Pop-up drive-ins have been around for a while, thanks to innovations that include inflatable screens and the ability to transmit sound through vehicle radios.

However, few if any of the pop-ups  will operate  on the scale of  the Bear Drive-In.
