Marjorie M. Pierce

With a painful but grateful heart to God, the family of Marjorie M. Pierce announce her passing away Sunday, July 25, 2021, at the tender age of 96.

Marjorie was born in Cattaraugus County, N.Y., to William and Lorraine Parker.

She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Brocton, N.Y. Marge enjoyed gardening, hiking through the woods to find local plants and flowers, exploring the backyard creek, as well as participating in family gatherings. Her family loved being surprised by her creative cooking and her especially tasty baked goods. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed all God’s creatures during her days of winter window watching.

Besides her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Pierce; son, H. James Pierce Jr., sons-in-law: Ronald Barber, Thomas Farrell, Michael Anderson and William Stanley; and a grandson, Steven Penhollow.

Marge is survived by her children: Ellen (William) Przytula, Glenda Stanley, Sharon Anderson, Mitchell (Lynn Sue) Pierce, Dena Pierce-Farrell, George (Beth) Pierce, Debra (Frank) Schneider, Barbara (Christopher) Dickenson and Frank (Teresa) Pierce, 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one brother, George Parker of Delevan, N.Y.; two sisters: Lynda Webber of Douglas, Ga., and Celestine Barrus of Fredonia, N.Y.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Harvest Chapel Fredonia. Calling hours 1-2 p.m., with the service at 2 p.m.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Chautauqua County Home for the care and support to Marjorie and her family during her residency.
