Jake Ellzey Wins U.S. House Runoff Election

(WBAP/KLIF) — Texas Republican Jake Ellzey won Tuesday’s runoff election for a seat in U.S. House of Representatives.  voters in Texas’ 6th Congressional District cast their ballots, Tuesday, for Republican Susan Wright, the widow of the late congressman Ron Wright, and Jake Ellzey, a Republican state legislator.

Ellzey received 20,837 votes, while wright garnered 18,279.  With the endorsement of former Texas governor Rick Perry, Ellzey earned 53% of the vote, while Wright, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump received almost 47%.

Ellzey finished second in a crowded field in May and will now fill the remaining term of Representative Ron Wright, who died in February after contracting COVID-19.
