Lord of Life reports success Habitat for Humanity campaign

BAXTER — Lord of Life Lutheran Church of Baxter had huge success with this year’s Habitat for Humanity campaign. The congregation raised $6,000 toward the cost of building a home for the Svoboda family and many of its members have been participating in the construction.

First Lutheran Church activities set

At 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd, will celebrate the Tenth Sunday after Pentecost with Now the Feast Liturgy. Pastor Patty Bjorklund will preach and preside. Holy Communion will be served.

At 10:30 a.m., coffee fellowship will be in Koinonia. Refreshments will be served.

This week at Trinity

Trinity Lutheran Church, 1420 S. Sixth St., Brainerd, has scheduled two worship services for this week.

On Wednesday, July 28, there will be an indoor worship evening service at 6 p.m. with Pastor Paul Erdal preaching. Holy Communion will be served.

On Sunday, Aug. 1, there will be an outdoor worship service at 9 a.m. with Pastor Paul Erdal preaching and Holy Communion will be served. This service is live on KVBR 1340 Radio and livestreamed.

There will be a send-off at 7:30 a.m. for the senior high youth trip to Montana Thursday.

This week at South Long Lake Church

South Long Lake Church will have worship at 9:30 a.m. Sunday followed by coffee fellowship and treats from 10:30-11 a.m.

Outdoor gospel concert set for Saturday

MALMO — The Malmo Free Church will present The Schimpps and the Timbs from Staples in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 31.

Gary and Carmen Schimpp have been singing for years throughout the Midwest.

Southern-born piano man Gary Timbs is married to Dawn (Schimpp) Timbs, oldest daughter of Gary and Carmen. Gary Timbs has performed and recorded as a solo artist; and with various country and gospel groups, including the legendary Statesmen Quartet and Country Music Hall of Fame’s Sonny James. A songwriter as well, Timbs has had songs recorded by various Southern Gospel groups, and has been nominated for a Dove award in the past.

Come as you are and bring a lawn chair to enjoy the music outdoors. In case of rain, the concert will be inside the air-conditioned church.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church services planned

On Sunday, Aug. 1, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 418 Eighth Ave. NE, Brainerd, will celebrate the 10th Sunday of Pentecost with a drive-in service with communion at 8:45 a.m. Pastor Mark Skinner will be preaching. In-person services are 10 a.m. Sundays. The church will continue to livestream the 10 a.m. service at www.facebook.com/bethlehem.brainerd . The service will be put on www.belcnet.net after its completion for later viewing.
