UP: Fatehpur ADJ claims foul play after his car was hit by SUV

PRAYAGRAJ: An additional district judge (ADJ) posted in Fatehpur lodged a complaint with the Kaushambi district police stating that his car was hit by a speeding SUV near Chakwan crossing late on Thursday evening.
The ADJ expressed suspicion that the incident could be the handiwork of a litigant who had recently threatened him of dire consequences because he had refused bail to an arrested accused.

Inspector general (IG) of Prayagraj Range, KP Singh, who is monitoring the probe, told TOI that there was nothing that could suggest that the incident was more than an accident.
The incident, however, gained significance in the light of the Supreme Court taking suo motu cognizance of a recent case in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad where a judge died after being hit by an auto-rickshaw while he was out on a morning walk.
Senior police officials have asked the officials concerned to probe the case thoroughly.
The IG said that the ADJ (Pocso court) Mohammad Ahmad, posted in Fatehpur district, was returning to Fatehpur from Prayagraj late on Thursday evening when a speeding SUV collided with his car.
Singh added that a police team was conducting technical investigations into the incident. Preliminary police investigations also revealed that collision of vehicles was a result of overtaking, and no one was hurt in the incident. But ADJ Ahmad’s car was badly damaged in the collision.
After the incident, the ADJ submitted an application at the local police station, levelling charges of ‘intention of killing’.
Singh said that police have summoned the owner of the SUV to find out more details of the incident.
Preliminary investigations claimed that there was no intention of hurting, and it was a case of road accident only. Police also said that the SUV owner and the ADJ were not known to each other.
