SACRED HEART — The Sacred Heart/MACCRAY Scarlets have earned a berth in the state semifinals.
SH/MACCRAY beat La Crescent 8-1 on Friday in the first round of the Division II American Legion Baseball state tournament.
The Scarlets lashed out 13 hits to move into the semifinals, where they will play Roseau at 7:30 p.m. Saturday Roseau beat Holy Family 5-0 earlier Friday.
Also Friday, Wadena beat Luverne 2-0 and Tri-Town defeated Glenwood-Lowry 3-2.
Wadena and Tri-Town play at 5 p.m. Saturday in the other championship semifinal. Glenwood-Lowry plays Luverne at 9 a.m. Saturday in the consolation bracket.

The championship game is at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
For SH/MACCRAY, Brady Kienitz, Isaac Strommer, Tyler Froland, Eli DeHoux and Carter Wrede all had two hits against La Crescent, which plays Holy Family at 11:30 a.m. in the consolation bracket.
The consolation championship game is set for 2 p.m. Saturday. There’s also a third-place game scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday before the championship game.
Minnesota’s Division II state champion advances to the Central Plains Regional on Aug. 6-8 in Waupun, Wisconsin. State champions from Minnesota, Kansas, Nevada, Wisconsin and North Dakota participate, as does the host Waupun squad.
Brandan Hoberg got the pitching win for the Scarletts, going 6⅔ innings. He struck out six, walked five and allowed four hits and one unearned run. Wrede finished out the game by recording the final out to earn the save.
Isaac Peterson went 2-for-3 with a run for La Crescent.
