Three murdered in Angul for not throwing a feast

Three people were beaten to death and their bodies dumped into the river near a village under Khamar police station limits. While one body was retrieved from the river, the other two are yet to be recovered. Khamar police have detained seven persons in this connection.

ANGUL: Three people were beaten to death and their bodies dumped into the river near a village under Khamar police station limits. While one body was retrieved from the river, the other two are yet to be recovered. Khamar police have detained seven persons in this connection.
The deceased have been identified as Motei Gagrei (48), Budhhhu Chattar (60) and his wife Muni Chatter (50) of Gitamunda village, about 16 km from Khamar police station.
Police said the three had been ex-communicated by the villagers for not throwing a feast recently on the occasion of a marriage in the family.
The incident occurred on Friday night while the deceased were asleep. They were beaten to death and their bodies were then dumped into the nearby Samakoi river.
The next day Khamar police were informed about the incident. During investigation some of the villagers informed the police about the incident. The police detained seven persons who admitted to their crime.
