Giovanna Fletcher has shared a heartwarming response to the news that I'm a Celebrity will return to North Wales.

The reigning winner of the ITV series posted a message on social media after it was announced yesterday that the show would be filming at Gwrych Castle again this year.

In a post on her Instagram account, the bestselling author said: "Soooo…. @imacelebrity is heading back to Wales!"

"@gwrychcastle is stunning and (even though we were blindfolded when travelling around) it was the perfect place to play and have fun for a few weeks."

The podcast host continued: "Wales was never a consolation prize, it was a pure gift! I can't wait to watch!! Although it will feel like people are hanging out in my gaff!"

The upcoming series of I'm a Celebrity will be hosted by Ant and Dec, set to air in the autumn. It will be broadcast live every night from the historic estate in Abergele.

Announcing the news yesterday, Katie Rawcliffe, ITV Head of Entertainment Commissioning, said: "We've always said we have contingencies in place for the series if the Covid situation continued to bring uncertainty."

She continued: "After a highly successful run at the castle last year we're pleased that we can return there. I have no doubt the production team will produce another hugely entertaining series."

Richard Cowles, Director of Unscripted at Lifted Entertainment said: "The last series was a huge success and we were made to feel so welcome by everyone locally and can’t wait to see everyone again."

And sharing his thoughts on the news, Dr Mark Baker, chair of the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust, said: "I'm absolutely delighted that I'm A Celebrity has chosen Gwrych Castle to be its UK location for the 2021 series.

"Gwrych Castle is a beautiful grade I listed historic house and a must-see destination for tourists visiting Wales."

He added: "I'm a Celebrity being here will really help support its ongoing restoration as well as giving the region a much-needed economic boost. We are all very excited to be working with the team again."

I'm a Celebrity is expected to return in the autumn. ITV will announce further details about the new series in due course, including confirming the official line-up.
