A further 1,271 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland in the last 24 hours – with the disease claiming another 13 lives.
Figures published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland today show there are 383 Covid patients in Scottish hospitals and 58 people battling the virus in ICUs across the nation.
The new fatalities — including one in the NHS Ayrshire and Arran health board region — means Scotland's Covid death toll now stands at 7,965.

In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, Inverclyde has the highest rate in the country — at 219.3 as of Tuesday, August 3.
South Lanarkshire has the second-highest infection rate at 214.5 while West Dunbartonshire is third with 201.5.
Of Ayrshire's three local authorities, North Ayrshire has the highest rate of 168.3 compared to South Ayrshire's rate of 135.5 and East Ayrshire's 114.3.
A total of 108 new cases were reported in the region in the last 24 hours, with 51 in North Ayrshire, 29 in South Ayrshire and 28 in East Ayrshire.

There are 23 Covid patients in Ayrshire hospitals – down two from yesterday – while fewer than five people are battling the disease in intensive care in the region.
A total of 4,016,326 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 3,249,622 have received a second dose.
