RAJKOT: Almost three weeks after a 26-year-old man in Morbi went live on social media before ending his life due to alleged harassment by in-laws, his wife and three other member of her family were booked for abetment to suicide.
Kishan Goswami, a resident of Meera Park in Vavdi road in Morbi, hanged himself at his home on July 17. Police said he was reportedly fed up with harassment by his in-laws.
During the live session, Goswami blamed his wife for forcing him to take the extreme step.
Goswami’s mother Kiran lodged a complaint against her son’s wife Mitali, father-in-law Pankaj Goswami and mother-in-law Lata under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of Indian Penal Code. Lata’s sister Sudha Goswami too was named in the complaint.
Goswami had married Mitali and the couple was living in Morbi. Since it was a love marriage, Goswami’s in-laws were opposed to the relationship and were allegedly harassing him. They brought Mitali back to their home and also filed a case against Goswami. “I am unable to live any more. Mitali, when I die, come to see my dead body once. I loved you, but your parents took away my life in return. They harassed me so much that I have to end my life. I appear on social media because someone would help my parents in this case after my death. I pray to God not to be reborn as a human. Bye Mitali, Alvida!” were Goswami’s last words on social media.
