Nalanda killings: Two arrested, four weapons recovered by police

PATNA: Altogether two persons including prime accused Mahendra Yadav were arrested by police till Thursday evening for their alleged involvement in the killings of five persons over land dispute at Lodipur village in Nalanda the previous day.
Police also recovered four weapons kept hidden which were allegedly used in the killing.
Chhabilapur police station SHO Vinod Kumar on Thursday said that total count of slain persons is five and not six.

“One Brinda Yadav is still alive and under treatment at Patan medical college and hospital for bullet injuries,” he said.
The SHO on Wednesday night had said that Brinda had also succumbed to bullet injuries in course of treatment and altogether six persons were killed.
The five slain persons are Jaddu Yadav (60) and his two sons Madhesh Yadav (35) and Pintu Yadav (30), Dhirendra Yadav (55) and his brother Shivendra Yadav alias Shibal Gope (30), all native of Lodipur.
Injured Brinda, slain Jaddu and Dhirendra, were cousins. As per police, arrested Mahendra is a step cousin of Brinda, Jaddu and Dhirendra.

The SHO said that one Mahesh Prasad from the side of the slain persons, has lodged an FIR against at least 16 persons and several unknown for their involvement in the killings.
Meanwhile, Nalanda SP Hari Prasath S said that Mahendra is among the main persons leading his sides which had reached on the 25 bigha plot to plough it on Wednesday.
He said three country made pistols and country made rifle was recovered from the village on indication of the two arrested persons.
“These weapons were used in the killings. Continuous raids are being carried on to nab other accused persons who are evading arrest,” he added.
