BERHAMPUR: A woman Maoist of the Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division of the CPI (Maoist) surrendered before SP (Kandhamal) at Phulbani on Sunday. She was identified as Kanti Mallick (22) alias Amit, a party member of Gangaranga village under Baliguda police station limits in Kandhamal district.
She joined the CPI (Maoist) in 2018 and is suspected to be involved in several LWE activities in Kandhamal district, said SP (Kandhamal) Veenit Agrawal.

Besides development works undertaken by the government in Kandhamal and appeal of chief minister Naveen Patnaik to Maoists to surrender, she was disillusioned with the behaviour of Maoist leaders from Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh towards the local cadre.
