UP: Cash van security guard killed in exchange of fire with robbers in Jaunpur

VARANASI: A cash van security guard was killed in exchange of fire with two armed miscreants in Dhaniamau market of Baksha area in Jaunpur district on Monday afternoon.
Before suffering bullet injuries, the guard foiled the loot bid at the time of refilling an ATM in the market around 3.30pm. As marks of blood were found on the route through which miscreants fled on their motorcycle, police suspected that one of them had also suffered bullet injuries.
Borders of district have been sealed and many police teams were engaged to nab the miscreants.
Regarding the incident, ADG Varanasi zone Brij Bhushan said that when a cash van had reached to refill the ATM machine of One India in Dhaniamau area when two motorcycle-borne miscreants raided the place and opened fire in their bid to loot the cash from van staff. However, the cash van’s security guard also opened fire targeting the miscreants while cops on local picket also reached there.
On sensing danger, the miscreants shot the security guard and tried to escape. ADG said that police also opened fire on the miscreants and it is suspected that one of the miscreants had suffered bullet injuries in firing by the security guard or police. SP Jaunpur Ajay Sahani had also reached the spot and police teams had started chasing the miscreants with the help of blood marks found on the routes they used to escape, he added.
The injured security guard was immediately rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The miscreants could not succeed in looting cash, said police.
