VARANASI: Ballia police on Tuesday lodged an FIR against four persons for brutally beating and giving electric shocks to a youth. Police took note of the incident after the video of the torture went viral.
“Police have investigated the viral video. After getting a complaint from the victim’s brother, a named FIR has been lodged against four persons at Sahatwar police station under sections 307 (murder attempt) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of IPC.

All possible hideouts of the accused persons are being raided for their early arrest,” circle officer (CO) Bansdih, Priti Tripathi said on Tuesday.
During probe, police found that four locals of Surahia village under Sahatwar police station had tied hands and legs of Pintu Rajbhar of Rajbharbasti and beat him brutally at 3 am on August 7.
Besides beating Pintu, the assailants were also seen giving him electric shocks. A local made a video of the incident, which went viral on social media on Monday.
Meanwhile, as the health of Pintu deteriorated he was admitted to the district hospital by his family. Later, Pintu’s brother Neeraj gave a written complaint against the four assailants, who are absconding.
