PRAYAGRAJ: With the arrest of two persons, Pratapgarh police on Wednesday claimed to have worked out a double murder case in Saphachat village.
The two prime accused arrested were identified as Subhash and Yogendra, residents of Patti (Pratapgarh) and Chanda (Sultanpur).
Police said that bodies of two persons, including Shiv Bhole and his friend Raviendra, residents of Saphachat village of Pratapgarh, were found in a rice field under Patti police station on August 9.
Bhole and Raviendra worked as labourers.
Following the arrest, Subhash and Yogendra told police that Raviendra used to talk to a girl of their family till late hours in the night, and also started creating rumours about their family in the village. They had warned Raviendra several times, but he didn’t stop, added the accused. Under a planned conspiracy, Subhash and Yogendra called up Raviendra for a drink on the night of August 8.
Ravindra, along with his friend Shiv Bhole, arrived in the rice field where they enjoyed drinks. During the party, both sides indulged into a heated argument. The accused, with the help of their accomplices, strangled both Raviendra and Shiv Bhole to death and escaped. Police have been looking for their two accomplices.
