Gujarat: 3 dead as scaffolding collapses at cement factory in Porbandar

RAJKOT: Three labourers died while three others were rescued after the scaffolding they were standing on collapsed at a cement factory in Porbandar, Gujarat on Thursday.
“We have safely rescued three persons after a nine-hour operation. They have been shifted to a hospital in Porbandar. Three people died in the incident. Investigations are under way to ascertain the real cause of the incident.Those responsible will be booked," said Ravi Mohan Saini, superintendent of police, Porbandar.
The rescue operation which began at 5pm on Thursday lasted till 2am on Friday. The coast guard, fire brigade and two teams of NDRF (National disaster response force) were involved in the rescue operation.
According to sources, the incident occurred when the labourers were working inside the chimney at a height of 45-foot. The metal scaffolding was erected for the maintenance and painting work inside the chimney.
