RAJKOT: A major fire broke out in clock manufacturing giant Ajanta Oreva group’s manufacturing facility on Morbi highway on Sunday early morning.
A team of Rajkot and Morbi fire department was deployed but the fire could not be doused after eight hours of constant efforts. No casualties has been reported yet.
According to the fire department, a fire broke out in the molding and paint department of the company at 4am.
The primary reason for the fire is believed to be a short circuit.
According to sources, the fire engulfed the entire building within minutes and smoke was seen billowing from far away. There are five fighters engaged in dousing the fire.
Illesh Kher, chief fire officer of Rajkot, said, “A fire broke out in the building of Ajanta group in the morning. We have sent two firefighters and one hydraulic platform and our team to help there.”
Kher added, “The fire is in the paint department which contains petroleum and because of that it’s taking more time in diffusing the fire.”
The sources claimed that the raw material and machinery was gutted in fire. Ajanta-Oreva group manufactures wall clocks with the brand name Oreva.
