Only 8 active cases in Chandrapur city, no death in 15 days
Chandrapur: Chandrapur city on Wednesday was left with just eight Covid patients, seven of them in isolation, thanks to “effective implementation” of break the chain measures. Two patients are in institutional quarantine while one is admitted to a private hospital.
Officials in Chandrapur Municipal Corporation, however, warned that though the situation now could be seen as a breather, the guard cannot be let down.

As per the statistics, 2.58 lakh Covid tests have been carried out since the onset of the pandemic in the city. Of these, 2.32 lakh have been found negative, while 25,587 tested positive. The virus has claimed a 435 lives, while 25,144 patients have recovered so far in the city.
Mayor Rakhi Kancharalwar claimed that civic body has taken stringent measures and offered extensive services for isolation, testing, treatment and vaccination. While seven Covid testing centres are running in the city, CMC also offered extensive institutional quarantine facility at forest academy and military school.
“Thanks to effective implementation of restrictions laid down by state government, the city has good recovery rate between June and August. While there were 4,468 active patients at the end of April, the figure has dropped to just eight now,” said Kancharlawar.
The toll has remained zero for last 15 days in the city. “Extensive vaccination drive has helped in curbing Covid cases. Around 1.05 lakh people in the city have been vaccinated with first dose, while 45,000 have taken second dose of the vaccine,” an officer in CMC health department said.
The mayor warned that though Covid restrictions have been eased in the city, people should not assume that coronavirus has been completely defeated. She appealed to citizens to maintain Covid appropriate behavior and follow the directives issued by the administration.
