Mandya police seize 3kg ganja from two peddlers

Mandya excise officials have arrested two persons who were allegedly in possession of nearly 3kg of ganja. Acting on a tip-off, a team of excise officials detained Karthik alias Mylari on Koththatti-Bannur Road in Mandya taluk and found 2kg ganja with him on Wednesday evening.

MYSURU: Mandya excise officials have arrested two persons who were allegedly in possession of nearly 3kg of ganja. Acting on a tip-off, a team of excise officials detained Karthik alias Mylari on Koththatti-Bannur Road in Mandya taluk and found 2kg ganja with him on Wednesday evening.
The same day, the sleuths arrested Manu, who allegedly had 970gram ganja, police stated. Both have been booked under the provision of NDPS Act, and remanded in judicial custody.
Excise officials are probing from where they got the ganja. Vijaykumar K T, DSP, excise (Mandya), said in both cases, ganja was sourced from Mysuru district. An investigation is under way to arrest another accused who is on the run.
Peddler held in Mysuru
Acting on a tip-off, Lakshkar police team rushed to a spot off Dawood Khan Road near Five-Light Circle and detained Syed Wasim, 21, of KN Pura for possessing ganja. Contraband, weighing 780gram, is worth Rs 30,000, police said. His network and connections are being investigated.
Burglars arrested
Police have arrested two people three days after batteries belonging to a diagnostic centre off Shivaji Road were lifted. They had stolen eight batteries by breaking open the centre’s lock, and police have recovered them. The accused are Fayaz Pasha, 31, of Kesare and Zameeelulla, 32. Inquiries revealed that Zameelulla had lifted utensils from an Urdu school. Their arrest led to solving two crimes.
