Meghan Singh grew up playing cricket with children in her locality and initially made a name for herself playing with boys in her school. She was one of two uncapped players who were named in the Indian squad for their upcoming tour of Australia.

Meghna Singh is among the uncapped players who have been called up for India's upcoming series in Australia consisting of a one-off day-night Test followed by an ODI and T20I series. A medium pace bowler, Meghna hails from the city of Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh.

Meghna grew up playing cricket with other children in her locality. Her father works as a security guard in a sugar mill while her mother works in the local child care centre.

She didn't have a local girls' team to play with but she made a name for herself playing with the boys in her school. She went through the district and state levels before finally playing at the national level for Railways.

Meghna had got a job as a booking clerk in Muradabad railways and she stayed at the Railways stadium and sharpened her skills.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the Indian squads for the women's tour of Australia.

India play their first-ever day-night women's Test at the WACA in Perth from September 30 to October 3. India are heading into the historic Test on the back of an impressive draw against England in Bristol earlier this year.
