BHUBANESWAR: The school and mass education department has decided to hand over the maintenance of school infrastructure and gardens created under Mo School Abhiyan to the local Mission Shakti-Self Help Groups (SHGs).
The announcement was made by department secretary Satyabrata Sahu at the 27th executive council (EC) meeting of Mo School Abhiyan held here on Friday.
The council will submit a proposal to the state government. The department will hold orientation programmes to polish the digital skills of teachers. For this, a proposal to sign an MoU with Quest Alliance is underway. In the next three years, more than 20,000 teachers of 4,000 schools and 16 lakh students will become competent in the digital arena.
Within a month, 30,768 alumni have joined the Mo School Abhiyan and donated Rs 7.32 crore for the development of their respective schools. After adding the state government’s share, the total amount touched Rs 21.96 crore last month.
There are plans to develop primary schools in Kandhamal and Rayagada districts with the support of Tata Trusts, alumni members and the community. To boost the sense of community participation, Pratham and Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti will be conducting learning camps for primary school students at 5,000 locations of both rural and urban areas.
The council has instructed the authorities of Mo School to form a special team to monitor the progress of school projects under this Abhiyan.
