IMD issues Orange Alert as Rain Lashes Parts of Delhi-NCR

After rains pelted portions of the national capital on Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange signal for Delhi.

The Delhi-NCR region is very likely to have one or two spells of moderate rain with heavy rain in isolated locations during the next three hours, according to an IMD alert issued at 11:30 a.m.

According to the IMDB’s forecast thunderstorms with moderate to heavy intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Entire Delhi and NCR (Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Manesar, Ballabhgarh) Sohana, Rohtak, Panipat, Gohana, Jind, Mehem, Bhiwani, Nuh, Charkhidadri, Matanhail, Jhajjar, Kosli, Farukhnagar, Safidon, Palwal, Aurangabad, Gannaur(Haryana) Barut, Bagpat, Khekra, Modinagar, Pilakhua, Kithore, Garhmukteshwar, Modinagar, Hapur, Gulaoti, Siyana, Sikandrabad, Bulandshahar, Jahangirabad, Anupshahar, Shikarpur, Khurja, Pahasu, Iglas, Raya, Hathras, Jattati, Khair (UP), Kotputly, Pilani, Loharu, Alwar(Rajasthan) over the next two hours.

Rain caused flooding in a number of locations across Delhi. Ring Road Hayyat Hotel, both sides of Savatri Flyover, Maharani Bagh Nizamudin Khatta, Carriageway Dhaula Kuan to 11 Murti, Anand Parbat Gali No. 10, SP Marg to RML way, Pul Prahladpur underpass, Chhata Rail, Moti Lal Nehru Marg, Maulana Azad Road near Vigyan Bhawan were all flooded, according to Delhi Traffic Police.
